If you’ve read the stories of Pippi Longstocking growing up, “Viktualia” might ring a bell, as the word is part fictional character’s name, who’s often described as playful and unpredictable, yet independent and compassionate, telling tall tales and not making the slightest attempt to suppress her wild imaginations. 

Back in the day Pippilotta’s name was part of a witty reference close friends of mine would make towards me, whereas nowadays it manifested itself in my “artist name”. (You think Viktualia is hard to pronounce? Thankfully you won’t have to try my actual last name then).
I wish I could have a monkey and a horse as my travel companions like Pippi does, but I guess I can be content about the fact that for over a decade the camera has been my best travel buddy and tool of communication, accompanying me through my lives in Germany, the UK, the US and nowadays Hong Kong. I’m incredibly privileged to say that my career has allowed me to travel around the globe and pursue what others can only dream of.

 

Over the years I managed to explore all sorts of analog and digital photography styles, from classic product photography, beauty, to lifestyle and fashion, over to sports, street, commercial, fine art, family portraiture and more. I even ventured into film and cinematography for a little while. 

 

I constantly try to re-invent myself and attempt to create a balance between the photography I do for a living versus the photography I do to improve on a more personal and creative level. I get to explore new genres and later on cross-translate parts of them into my day-to-day job. This actually allowed me to implement and teach “new” photography styles to a global photography franchise which I nowadays work for, but let’s talk about that another time. As you may have noticed, I like a little ramble, but who wouldn’t do so with things they're passionate about. Thankfully, nowadays I have enough trainees and mentees under my wing that are happy to have their ears chewed off and in return I can be incredibly proud of their progresses and the new creative perspectives they grow (and I'm very greatful about having watched them walk up stages to accept their own photography awards by now).

 

Anyway, I take this website as an opportunity to showcase myself, rather than attempting to sell my work. Feel free to grab a drink, wander through my imagery and reach out if you feel like it.
